     Mastoloni Pearls, the worldwide leading pearl concern second only to Mikimoto in consumer recognition, announced the appointment of Choice Group International as Preferred Provider to the nation’s Bridal Market, a segment that both Mastoloni and Choice have specifically cultivated.  Mastoloni unveiled at this year’s show an attractive “Bridal Showcase” which consists of a modern display unit targeted for the Bridal market by merchandising a selection of pearl designs and fashions for both the bride and attendants.  Shown as a complete unit, these pearl selections cater to the discriminating bride who seeks not only traditional looks to be worn at the wedding, but crisp fashions that can be given as affordable yet cherished gifts to attendants and others as well.  While not groundbreaking, the efforts by Mastoloni to create a program specifically for the Bridal market represents the emergence of marketing savvy that is becoming more and more visible from industry giants like Mastoloni.
     The appointment of Choice Group International as Preferred Provider is more notable, however, for as relative newcomers to the national jewelry scene, they have already secured some of the most talked about alliances at the show.  Choice Group is a collection of companies led by CEO Eric Ehrhardt, who is well known for his long term activities and reputation as a leading retailer from California, having literally grown up in the jewelry business working for a family-owned firm “Ehrhardt’s Fine Jewelry.”  Ehrhardt has nationwide exclusivity and recognition as “Choice Jeweler” to attend bridal shows at which he gives away diamond wedding bands to a lucky couple.   
     When asked how this business plan could be interesting to Mastoloni, Ehrhardt replied “What could be more important than to actually be personally represented on an exclusive basis with the very core of a market segment in an entire region?  Having a leading figure physically present to enthusiastically promote a product and to answer individual questions is incredibly more satisfying than to be exposed to an incredibly expensive and incredibly boring magazine ad.” 
     On a more personal level, Ehrhardt continued by saying “Bringing the quality, the designs, and the leading brand that Mastoloni represents to this arena can only result in mutual benefit.  Being recognized as Preferred Provider of Mastoloni is merely an extension of my reputation and commitment to serve my customers to the level they have become accustomed.  I congratulate the Mastoloni brothers for sharing the vision I have been defining for some time now.”
     The announcement by Mastoloni Pearls of Choice Group as Preferred Provider in conjunction with the introduction of their Bridal Line signifies the new era where suppliers and retailers join to serve a much more selective marketplace with combined effectiveness.  Similar to the dictates of the DTC and how they are restructuring the diamond business, this new venture is uncharacteristically voluntary and surprisingly innovative as well.  Apparently, the newest leaders in the industry are taking it upon themselves to define the future of our industry without the traditional pomp and circumstance.
